Youree Drive Middle School has a longstanding history of excellence and honor and it is my privilege and pleasure to serve as principal of such a great institution. My vision is to provide a safe and secure learning environment that focuses on quality instruction for students, support and sustainability for faculty and staff and positive school culture and community relations that fosters success for all stakeholders. Youree Drive Middle School is home to highly qualified staff who continue to provide academic and leadership opportunities that ensures a smooth transition to the high school setting. This school offers a variety of courses that caters to every kind of learner and allows each student to shine in their own way. I know that with the help of all stakeholders, YDMS will continue to flourish and reach even higher heights! I look forward to successful year!

Principal, Youree Drive Middle School
Dr. Candice Webert is a lifelong resident of Shreveport, Louisiana. She was educated in Caddo Parish Schools, having graduated from Captain Shreve High School. After high school, she attended Louisiana Tech University, where she earned a B.S. degree in Secondary Education. Her career as an educator began in 2005 as an social studies teacher at Broadmoor Middle Lab School, where she worked for 8 years. During her tenure a school teacher, she was named Social Studies Teacher of the Year by the Louisiana Council for the Social Studies, won numerous grants and awards from Target Corporation, and was selected to participate in the Reduced Gravity Opportunity research program with NASA at Johnson Space Center. She has presented professional development, written for numerous publications locally and nationally, and completed a study tour in Germany during the summer of 2016 with the Transatlantic Outreach Program. She earned her Master of Education in Administration from Louisiana State University at Shreveport in 2007, her Master’s Plus 30 from Louisiana Tech University in 2011, and her doctorate in educational leadership from Louisiana Tech University in 2017. She joined the Youree Drive team in 2013 as an Administrative Assistant, then became the Assistant Principal of Instruction in 2014. She always says “It is great to be a Spartan!”
Mr. Dicharry graduated from Louisiana State University with a bachelors degree in Kinesiology. Later he earned his teaching certification in Special Education from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He continued his educational journey at Louisiana State University at Shreveport and received a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Mr. Dicharry began his teaching and coaching career in 2001 at Lafayette High School, assisting in football, basketball, and track & field. In 2006, he moved to Byrd High School and continued his career coaching football and golf. In 2009 he shifted his focus to the Elementary level at Shreve Island Elementary. He has established many physically active clubs, constantly encouraging, improving student and faculty wellness by achieving national recognition from the Alliance for Healthier Generation. In 2018 he was Shreve Island Elementary’s teacher of the Year and was Caddo Parish District finalist for Parish Teacher of the Year. Mr. Dicharry is also active on the Louisiana’s Healthy Schools training Krewe which is responsible for professional developments around the State. He is married and is a proud father of two active girls and a very energetic boy. He enjoys hunting, fishing, LSU sports, New Orleans Saints, Pelican Basketball, and cooking. And of course he thrilled to be a Spartan!
