🖤💛Spartans stay warm and safe! 🖤💛 All Caddo Parish schools and district sites will be closed on Friday, January 10, due to the latest weather forecasts from the National Weather Service and consultation with Caddo Parish emergency response agencies. Current forecasts indicate that the winter weather has the potential to create hazardous road conditions, expected to persist overnight and into Friday morning. The district continues to encourage stakeholders to stay informed by following local weather updates and checking media outlets for the latest information on this week’s winter weather.

Appropriate Outerwear Guidelines As the weather gets colder, please make sure your student is dressed in accordance with the YDMS outerwear policy: ✅ Allowed: • Solid Colors (black, white, navy, grey) • Zipper jackets, sweatshirts, quarter-zip jackets, and jean jackets in solid colors with no hoods. • Non-YDMS/Spartan logos must not exceed 2 x 2 inches in size. • Beanies (removed inside) 🚫 Not Allowed: • Hoodies, zipper hoodies, and light jackets with hoods. 🧥 Special Note: Heavy winter coats (with or without hoods and any color) are allowed outside only when the temperature is below 45°F. Captain Shreve will provide IOWA testing for 8th grade students whose test scores do not meet the qualifications for magnet: 730 or better on ELA LEAP 730 or better on math LEAP NPR 50% or better on a standardized test Pre-ACT English or Reading 17 or better Pre-ACT Math 16 or better The test will be given on Saturday, February 1. Two of YDMS's engineering teams competed in the states largest 1st LEGO League Robotics competition at SciPort this past Saturday. Showing great skills in problem solving, computer coding, and creativity one team advanced tot the Louisiana State Championships to be held in New Orleans. That team was led by Brittany Payne, Henry Barker, and Sawyer Burton.
